The Business of the Year is chosen by a private selection committee, with no assistance or influence from the Faribault Chamber staff. Utilizing a variety of metrics, including community contributions, business ethics and values, as well as commitments to The Chamber's Missions.

From the storefront shops that anchor downtown to high-tech industries to large scale retail and service businesses – small businesses are the backbone of our economy. In the US, 28 million small businesses create nearly two out of three jobs in our nation’s economy; they provide jobs, spur economic growth and support local communities.
Since its beginnings in the 1960s, Daikin Applied has supported its community in a variety of ways, most notably its connection to both high-school and south central college students. Recently, significant investments have been made, have been made in southern Minnesota, specifically Faribault, which in turn help promote The Chamber’s Mission of making Faribault a great place to live, work and visit.
